The 17%
Aaron Johnson is a filmmaker and recent graduate of Chapman University. During his time in college, he directed the short film “The 17%”, which is his debut film, recently winning a Student Academy Award. Growing up in a special education classroom, he learned about the successes, adversity, and resilience of the disability community. Through those experiences, he made a commitment to tell stories about people whose voices are often underrepresented or unheard.
Aaron grew up a visual learner, and found film as an outlet to fully express himself. Aaron believes in using film as a platform to amplify voices and create lasting social impact. His work centers on stories that break stereotypes and celebrate the full potential of individuals with (dis)abilities.
