Aubrey T. A. Maslen is the Vice President, Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Communications and Strategic Partnerships for L'Oréal North America, the largest subsidiary of L'Oréal Groupe, the world's leading beauty company. In this role, Aubrey leads the commercial, operational, and reputational integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization — directing a unified strategy to inform, inspire, and engage stakeholders. He manages a high-performing team and orchestrates a matrixed network of 15 functional leads embedded across 4 divisions, home to 35+ iconic brands. Aubrey operates at the intersection of culture, commerce, and community, leading with a polycultural lens that recognizes the fluid, interconnected nature of identity to drive business growth and elevate brand equity.
Aubrey owns the enterprise-wide narrative, leveraging data-driven storytelling to unify the organization and position the company and its brands as market leaders. Across all four divisions of L'Oréal North America, he provides strategic guidance ensuring inclusive brand positioning, culturally optimized product development, and the integration of DE&I across the full product marketing lifecycle — from innovation and formulation through launch and commercial execution. He serves as a strategic consultant to brand leadership on product formulation, launch strategies, and marketing execution, ensuring commercial plans are both culturally relevant and revenue-driving.
A key pillar of Aubrey's work is the Polycultural Growth Accelerator, a transversal business strategy he architected to align R&I, Marketing, and Operations around "must-win" consumer segments. This initiative integrates cultural foresight, creator co-creation, and product development with launch and marketing strategies to position brands at the center of culture. Aubrey also co-developed and co-leads the Gold Brandon Hall Award-winning Beauty Marketing in a Diverse World curriculum — an upskilling program that equips marketers to infuse intersectional data and cultural fluency into product and media strategies.
Beyond brand and commercial strategy, Aubrey serves as a strategic advisor to L'Oréal's Reputational Issues & Crisis team on high-stakes communications — including litigation and M&A — safeguarding brand perception and consumer trust. He oversees the company's philanthropy and NGO partnerships strategy, leveraging brand causes to drive meaningful community impact. He has forged strategic partnerships with organizations including Essence Ventures, Gold House, WNBPA, and Heritage of Pride to enhance cultural relevance and deepen consumer trust. To support enterprise talent strategy, Aubrey oversees "Inclusion Plans" and proprietary data dashboards designed to ensure the workforce reflects the available talent pool.
Prior to joining L'Oréal, Aubrey served as an Inclusion Strategist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and held leadership roles at Accenture and Guidehouse. He began his career at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, where he supported policy and communication efforts for U.S. currency.
Aubrey's published research, "White for White: An Exploration of Gay Racism on the World's Most Popular Platform for Gay and Bisexual Men," earned the Best Dissertation Prize from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2018. He holds a BA in Political Science from American University and an MSc in Media & Communications from LSE. Aubrey also serves on the Board of Directors for Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice.
