Toby Williams

Director of Music Therapy, The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music

Moderator, Concierto for Open Hands

Toby is the Director of the Music Therapy Program at The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Through Toby’s deep belief and commitment to accessibility, community, and culturally responsive practice, BKCM Music Therapy program now reaches 3100 people of all abilities across the lifespan in their building in Park Slope and through 54 offsite partnerships.  She will also be the director of BKCM's new Music Therapy Institute, opening in the fall of 2026. Toby is an adjunct professor at New York University, where she teaches The Voice in Music Therapy and Introduction to Music Therapy.  Before completing an M.A in Music Therapy from NYU in 2004, Toby was a professional jazz vocalist and educator.  Toby’s clinical work in psychiatry, oncology, cardio-thoracic surgery and with autistic youth, informs the training, supervision, and ongoing professional development of 22 music therapists at BKCM.  A graduate of Dr. Diane Austin’s Vocal Psychotherapy training Toby maintains a small Vocal Psychotherapy private practice in Brooklyn, New York.
