Project Dis/Play
Project Dis/Play
About
Dis/Play is a multi-media public art work that shines a light on over 50 disabled artists and their stories. It will be projected onto exterior building walls throughout Tkaronto in November, 2021.
Project Locations
We will be projecting Dis/Play onto the building’s back wall, overlooking the parking lot. To access this area, there is a long packed gravel pathway. There will be limited seating available, spaced out according to Covid-19 public health guidelines and you are also more than welcome to bring your own seat. Stair-free washrooms will be available on site. There will be support staff in brightly coloured vests to assist throughout the showings.
We will be projecting Dis/Play onto the exterior of Barn 4, with space to gather in Wychwood Barns Park according to city public health guidelines. There will be limited park bench seating available, and you are more than welcome to bring your own seat. Support staff in brightly coloured vests will be present to assist throughout the showings.
We will be projecting Dis/Play onto the back wall of the building, overlooking Metro’s parking lot. We will be marking off a section of the parking lot for people to safely gather. There will be support staff in brightly coloured vests to assist throughout the showings.
Accessibility
The piece is approximately 10 minutes long and it features Deaf Interpretation (created by Deaf Spectrum), captions, and artistic audio description. There are no sudden visual effects, or jarring sounds.
Dis/Play features stories from Jasmine Noseworthy Persaud, Winter Plum and Michel Dumont. Their stories are accompanied by images and video clips that represent the words they are sharing. Visual descriptions of these pieces are included here.
